you knew

you knew                                            March 7, 2015
girl-self you did not know
why he mesmerized you so
you weren’t a little girl
so precocious so aware
little girl you did not know
how right you were
that moment when you knew
your eyes locked in introduction
recognition–he knew too–
but there is no script
i write to you, my child self
all these years gone by
you knew the ending knew your lines
how right you were
he’s still in love with you
and you’d still follow anywhere
but there’s no joy, no bliss
not yet, not now
you love through hell
through plexiglass and pain
you knew you knew
you always knew
i still cannot see how
but it is true

About m

My ego wants to think I'm a writer but my heart knows I'm just another one of God's Kids who sometimes has words to say. 2.5 human kids and 3 feline kids call me Mom. Or Mooooooom. Or mewom, depending which you ask. My most recent completed endeavor was finishing BA's in Religious Studies and American Studies. I don't remember what free time is but I think I like to spend it sleeping or playing in the mud on a river bank.
